At The James, we love exploring new places, and our new location in West Hollywood is no exception. We’re thrilled to be part of this vibrant community and have already started checking out the local art scene. In LA, one of our favorite places to do that is the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), the largest art museum in the western United States. With a collection that includes over 120,000 objects dating from antiquity to the present, it’s a must-see for locals and visitors alike.

The Art of the Matter

Founded in 1965, LACMA has become a major player in the art world, with holdings of Asian art, Latin American art—ranging from pre-Columbian masterpieces to works by leading modern and contemporary artists—and Islamic art, of which LACMA hosts one of the most significant collections in the world. In addition to its permanent collections, you’ll want to check out the museum’s many current and upcoming exhibitions, which bring a variety of colorful, one-of-a-kind works to visitors from all over the world. LACMA also promotes local culture by offering a wide variety of classes, lectures, family friendly programs, and other fun events.

Don't miss: the museum’s popular Rain Room, an immersive, large-scale light and sound installation that mimics a torrential rainstorm without getting you drenched.
