Following an unusually hot summer season in Chicago, New York and West Hollywood, the vibrant colors of fall will soon be surrounding us. And with fall comes a plethora of Halloween activities in all three cities. Whether you’re looking for a family-friendly event, something low-key, or an all-out fright fest, we’re recommending the best Halloween haunts to check out this October.

West Hollywood - Carnaval
Dubbed the largest Halloween street party in the world, this West Hollywood showstopper draws crowds of over 500,000 people up and down Santa Monica Boulevard. There, revelers delight in wild costumes, live entertainment on multiple stages, food vendors and photo stations – while the bars add to the flavor with cocktail specials and alfresco patio parties.

New York - Giant Pumpkin Weekend
Giant gourds – some weighing up to 1,800 pounds – arrive in New York just in time for Halloween at the New York Botanical Garden the weekend of October 22-23. This annual pumpkin patch allows families to learn about the growing process from local farmers. Take a selfie with a giant pumpkin or pick out a smaller set for the kids to take home.

Chicago - Fright Fest at Six Flags Great America
As if roller coasters aren’t terrifying enough, Six Flags Great America in Gurnee transforms into its annual Fright Fest every weekend in October beginning October 1. With over 15 haunted attractions, including a trick or treat trail for kids, 200 monsters and one terrifying medical center, this fright fest isn’t for the faint of heart.
