Union Square Park's Mood Boosting Crystal Garden
New Yorkers can get up close and personal this winter with energy-cleansing crystals as Union Square Park is now home to renowned glass artist Dale Chihuly’s soaring, eye-catching sculpture, Rose Crystal Tower. Below, check out five things you need to know about this mood boosting installation:
1.) Crystal is an ideal choice for a public art piece for busy New Yorkers as crystals can be used to heal, restore and enhance physical, mental and spiritual balance.
2.) Take a stroll through the park and experience the mood boosting benefits of crystals firsthand. They range from relieving stress and clearing the mind to elevating creativity and helping you live in the now.
3.) Chihuly’s Rose Crystal Tower stands 31-feet tall and is composed of steel and over 300 Polyvitro crystals. Polyvitro is a lighter plastic material that resembles glass and above all, is more resilient to inclement weather (perfect for those New York winters).
4.) The crystal tower commemorates the 50th anniversary of the New York Department of Parks & Recreation’s public art program, Art in the Park.
5.) The sculpture is already one of the most popular Instagram spots in New York and will be on display until October 2018, giving you plenty of time to get out and take your crystal selfie.
