What's Happening? Celebrate Valentine's Day In Chicago + New York

The David L. Hoyt Foundation and the Poetry Center of Chicago will join together for the “Haiku Your Love” event this February. Attendees can make their own haikus from various love-themed words in different formats. At the end of the evening, vote for your favorite haiku, which will be put on display at the Chicago Literary Alliance. This wordy event will take place on Tuesday, February 13 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Weinberg/Newton Gallery. Tickets are less than $5 and can be purchased here.
Couples (or friends for that matter) who work out together can strengthen the tradition this Valentine’s Day. On Saturday, February 10th the Valentine’s Day 5k race returns to Staten Island. Chicago + New York
Mortified is a series of live storytelling where adults share their most mortifying childhood artifacts (such as diaries, letters, home movies, etc.) in front of an audience – a perfect sappy Valentine’s Day antidote. The hilarious show will feature a “Doomed Valentine’s Day” edition where performers will read aloud their most embarrassing love notes. Take part on Saturday, February 10 at Lincoln Hall in Chicago and on Thursday, February 8 at Littlefield in Brooklyn. Tickets can be purchased at GetMortified.com.
