Article Image

Bundle up this season for winter events in both Chicago and New York City. While it is an ideal time to stay snuggled up on the couch, we’ve found the perfect excuse to get out for some fresh, crisp air with our picks for the best winter events.

New York
2018 will mark the 15th anniversary of the New York Times Travel Show, taking place January 26-28, 2018 at the Javits Center (655 W 34th St.). The travel show boasts over 550 exhibitors and touches on all aspects of inspiring wanderlust including food, hotels, wellness and culture. Attendees can experience expert panels, book signings, tastings, performances and, of course, the popular family travel pavilion. Pick up tickets for $20/day pass or $25/two-day pass.

A decor specialty New York event that takes place each January is the Ceramics & Glass Fairhappening January 18-21, 2018 at the Bohemian National Hall (321 East 73rd St.). This fair is the only festival dedicated to ceramics, pottery and glass from the 17th-21st centuries. Over 30 galleries will be on hand to display their wares while leading specialists will speak during a lecture series on a variety of different topics. Passes are available for $20 per person for the entire festival.

Chicago
Take a short drive from the city to the Tinley Park Convention Center for the second annual Health Living Expo year on Saturday, January 13, 2018. The free event will feature vendor booths, health screenings, cooking demonstrations and workout classes. There will be plenty of giveaways and ways to learn how to live a healthier lifestyle in the New Year.

Over 150 craft beers will be on hand for sampling on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at the winter edition of Chicago Ale Fest. The Grand Ballroom at Navy Pier will see over 1,000 beer lovers sporting their commemorative festival glass while enjoying beer, live music and snacks from food trucks. Tickets begin at $49, however if you pick up the $75 ticket you can also enjoy fitness and yoga classes for pre-drinking detoxing.
