Scratch the surface of Miami’s surf history and you’ll find it to be a surprisingly rich and colorful mix of people, places and moments in time. It’s a history that has direct links to the beginnings of American surf culture and the generation of pioneering watermen that embraced it. It is also a history closely linked to the development of surfing as a sport, an industry, and a way of life. To this day, Miami continues to contribute to the surfing world as a whole and our community will continue this tradition of giving through the creation of the Miami Surf Archive Project.

The Miami Surf Archive Project is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation, presentation and promotion of surfing in Miami-Dade for the appreciation and education of current and future generations around the world. Through our partnership with Miami Surf Archive Project, please enjoy archived footage of Miami’s surf history throughout the years.
