"The James New York-NoMad, set for a summer debut, is an adaptive reuse of a Beaux Arts structure with 344 rooms and suites designed by fellow New Yorker Thomas Juul-Hansen, as well as a Scarpetta restaurant and a new cocktail bar concept from LDV Hospitality. The hotel interiors will "merge notions of a warm, modern, residential feel featuring a collection of unique furnishings that speak to each other," says Thomas Juul-Hansen studio director Michael Stevens. In the lobby, gray, pink, and blue tones are set against warm gray terrazzo floors inlaid with a brass pattern, a wood ceiling, and paneled walls. Highlights, says Stevens, are the finer details: handcarved stone sinks in guestrooms, the carved wood reception desk, and the restaurant's vaulted ceilings."
