What's Happening: Fall Events in Chicago + New York
The fall season brings with it changing leaves, cooler temperatures and lots of pumpkin flavored food and drinks. But there’s more to look forward to this season, including a plethora of stand-out cultural events in Chicago and New York. Chicago Architecture Biennial (Chicago)
Kicking off this September, the Windy City welcomes back the famed Chicago Architecture Biennial with the aspirational ambition to “Make New History.” Billed as the largest architecture and design exhibition in the United States, the biennial features installations and immersive environments created by more than 140 participants from over 20 countries, including Pritzker Architecture Prize winners SANAA from Tokyo. It also overlaps this year with the renowned art fair, Expo Chicago.
Food & Wine Festival (New York)
Mark your calendars foodies. This October kicks off the largest food and wine festival in NYC with over 100 events, tasting celebrations, intimate dinners and more. Now celebrating its 10th year, dine and do good as all proceeds from this annual event benefits the Food Bank For New York City and the No Kid Hungry campaign.
Oktoberfest (Chicago + New York)
The Southport Corridor neighborhood comes alive during the 17th annual Oktoberfestcelebration, happening September 29-October 1. Guests can indulge in craft beer tastings in the German Beer Hall and families can experience the “Kinderfest” featuring games and activities for kids. $10 admission Friday and $5 Saturday ($10 after 5PM) and Sunday.
Meanwhile, New York celebrates Oktoberfest over three different weekends, September 15-17, 22-24, and 29-October 2. Happening at Watermark (Pier 15) the fest is filled with steins of beer, traditional Bavarian food and all menu items are $8. The best part? Admission is free, reserve your tickets here.
