Design Dossier: Five Things To Know About Canon Soho

Article Image

The James New York – Soho has a fashionable new neighbor. Canon, located at 150 Sullivan Street, is sure to be the top fall fashion destination this season due to its inventory of contemporary and emerging designers, not to mention its Vogue stamp of approval. Located just a short walk from The James, we’re breaking down five fast facts on everything you need to know about this cutting-edge Soho boutique.

1) Dernier Cri Fame
Owner, Stacia Canon, is well-known in NYC fashion circles for her previous boutique in the meatpacking district, Dernier Cri. There, the racks were filled with early 2000s designers including Ksubi, Tsumori Chisato and Phillip Lim, before many of them were carried at any major department store like you see today.

2) Sophisticated Vibes
The inventory at Canon will feature contemporary designs but on a more approachable, sophisticated scale compared to the “rock n’ roll” vibe that was on display at Dernier Cri.

3) Emerging Designers
As she did previously, Stacia stocks up-and-coming designers including JTBYJT (Buenos Aires), Asli Filinta (Turkey), Wonder Anatomie (Thailand), some of which – believe it or not – can’t even be found online. And if her prior buying is any indication, something tells us you’ll be seeing these brands in the major stores soon as well.

4) Price Point
The million dollar question. Well, in this case it’s significantly less than a million. The store is made up of women’s ready-to-wear apparel, accessories, jewelry and lifestyle goods priced from $100-$900.

5) Family Feel
The Soho neighborhood evokes many family memories for Stacia as her grandparents were married at St. Anthony’s (155 Sullivan St.), her father grew up on Washington Place and her grandmother grew up on Bleecker Street. She knew if she ever opened a boutique again it would be in a neighborhood where she truly felt at home.

You’ll need a place to store those fashionable finds after a day of shopping – kick back in style with any of our array of special hotel offers in Soho.
